Tennis is a funny game. One minute you're up against match point, with your tournament hopes hanging by a thread, and then a few points later you're suddenly running away the momentum. This was the case for two of the ladies in the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. After winning the first set, Svetlana Kuznetsova was serving for the match against Serena Williams, but Serena broke the Russian at 4-5 to even the second set, and basically stole all of Kuznetsova's mojo. Then, despite some hot Aussie weather, Serena stayed focused and sweated her way to a second-set win and an absolute clobbering in the third set to win the match, 5-7, 7-5, 6-1.
On the men's draw, it was another dominating performance by top-seed Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard is basically making this look easy, winning his fifth straight match in straight sets when he took down Frenchman Gilles Simon, 6-2, 7-5, 7-5.
With fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco trumping Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, it set up an all-Spaniard semifinal match in Melbourne.
"I think it's incredible for us," Nadal said. "One will be in the finals, so we have to be happy with that."If you are a big tennis fan, make sure to brew some Red Bull mixed with coffee for early Thursday morning, when Roger Federer meets Andy Roddick in the semifinals at 3:30 AM ET on ESPN2.

Serena has DONE it AGAIN! Maybe now the stupid commentators like Mary Carillo will keep their dump opinions of the Williams' sisters committment to their "biased" selves. No wonder they do not want to play Davis Cup; they are the only ones winning the Slams for USA and they still have to be trashed by Ms. Carillo. Serena has now run through all the "praised" non-Slam Russians and the one-Slam wonder Kuznetsova. The Williams sister have done well for many years, even when being accused of having other interests (like most human beings do). The commentators should be wondering about the "committed" Russians and so-called former number "one" Serbian who can not win a Slam.
I like Roddick; whohas not won a Slam in five years. Yet he gets more praise from some American commentators than Serena and Venus do.

GO SERENA GO!!! Maybe now the stupid commentators like Mary Carillo will shut up about the Williams' sisters committment. Now Serena has beaten all the "committed" Russians and the so-called number one Serb. Maybe Carillo should wonder why their committment has not garnered them slams. No wonder the Williams sister do not want to play Davis Cup, when some of their own country people in the sport always look for something negative to say about them.
