Who says Bjorn Borg doesn't have the right to flip flop? He's as entitled as the next man and that is what the Swedish great is doing now by flipping his pick for this year's Wimbledon champion to the hottest player on the men's tennis scene, Roger Federer. A year ago, Borg correctly picked Rafael Nadal to win the 2008 Wimbledon title and that didn't sit well with Federer.
But this year, recognizing Federer is playing at a different level after having won the French Open, Borg is picking to the Swiss player to take it all in England.
"Coming into Wimbledon I think he is relieved in a way that he won Paris, because that was one of his main ambitions, goals to try and win Paris," Borg, who shares with Federer the professional era record of winning five successive Wimbledon titles, told Reuters Television on Tuesday.
"So coming into Wimbledon he feels very confident, he has matched [Pete] Sampras's record of 14 grand slams.
Federer's French Open win made him just the sixth man to win all four majors, which has all but cemented his spot as one of the all-time greats in the sport.

Bejorn Borg is not a flip-flopper. He is just no non-sense, as usual. He has always been a total pragmatist. He is not a sentimentalist. He has no sentimental favorites for Wimbledon or any other match. There are only reality picks in his book. He looks at how everyone in the field is playing these last few weeks and projects winners and losers two weeks ahead and no more, and with his credentials, whose gonna argue with him. Beyond that he will probably be the first to tell you, "We'll see what happens in the next two weeks, then I may have something more to say." Totally spot on reality. That has always been his view of the world. He is a, "What have you done for me today." type performance evaluator. That is why he was a professional act as a champion tennis player for so long, and why he left competitive tennis as professionally as he participated and led it in his hey day. I also happen to agree with Borg's call. I also don't think Nadal will be the 110% healthy he would need to be to beat Roger in two weeks. Maybe the US Open, or who knows. We'll see.
