ATP Will Not Reopen Agassi Case

LONDON (AP) -- The ATP Tour will not reopen a doping case against Andre Agassi even though he admitted to lying about using crystal meth in 1997.

Agassi revealed in his recent autobiography that he failed a 1997 drug test, a result he says was thrown out after he lied by claiming he "unwittingly" took crystal meth.

However, ATP chairman Adam Helfant said on Friday that there was no way to sanction the American retroactively since he has retired from tennis.

Marat Safin Calls it a Career

PARIS (AP) -- Known for furious, racket-throwing rants, Marat Safin would rather be remembered for the hard work he put in during a 12-year career marked by two Grand Slam titles and a Davis Cup win.

The former No. 1 ended his career Wednesday after losing to Juan Martin del Potro 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in the second round of the Paris Masters.

"A lot of people there really thought that I'm not a really hard worker," Safin said. "But you can ask all my coaches how I dedicated myself to tennis. They will tell you it's completely the opposite of what a lot of people think."

Sam Querrey Could See Record Payday

Although 21 spots from the No. 1 seed going to into the US Open, Sam Querrey has a chance at winning the largest single paycheck in tennis history. On Thursday morning, he clinched the Olympus US Open Series men's title by beating Bjorn Phau in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Pilot Pen Tournament.

Since the Series creation in 2004, players who hold the title heading into the US Open earn substantial cash bonuses depending on their finish. The higher the finish, the higher the bonus. This year, Querrey could set the record and earn a total of $2.6 million at the Open alone.

What does he have to do to collect the total reward and take the pay-day crown from Federer? Simple, just win the US Open.

Andy Murray Overtakes Rafael Nadal to Become No. 2 in Rankings

Andy Murray
MONTREAL (AP) -- Andy Murray has overtaken Rafael Nadal in the ATP rankings, becoming the first British man to reach No. 2.

Roger Federer is still No. 1 in Monday's rankings. Murray's Rogers Cup title in Montreal last week moved him up to No. 2 for the first time, while Nadal is now No. 3 after being ranked No. 1 from August 2008 through June 2009.

Nike's 'Love 15' Commercial Celebrates Federer's Greatness

Sunday's Wimbledon final was one of the best tennis matches I've ever watched; it's fitting that Roger Federer actually experienced a challenge when he won his record-setting 15th Grand Slam title. And, it was such an impressive feat that Nike gathered some of its finest athletes together and mish-mashed them all into one commercial in which they're in shock and awe at Roger's amazing accomplishment. Seriously though, the namechecks on this puppy make you realize what an amazing feat it is. Via Sharapova's Thigh
